Favorite "combos" for your LO?

What are some of your favorite "combos" that you use when offering different foods? Today I coarsely mashed up an overripe banana with an avocado, and we did a meal of this... the surplus went into an ice cube tray.

I also boiled baby spinach and apple chunks, and blended them together - again, coarser, so that he's getting used to a variety of textures. He's a big fan of applesauce, so this is only a little coarser than that.

He's also had yogurt (but was NOT a fan of mixing banana into it for some reason)... and little pieces of chicken and steak. I've mixed chicken in with brown rice - which he chews and eats "whole" with NO problem whatsoever. Who says you need rice cereal, hehe.

But, yeah... I'm just curious as to what foods/flavors other folks mix up for their LO, and what they have liked.

Not really a combo, but we've lightly sauteed spinach with garlic & onion. Also put cinnamon on carrots-- both big favorites in our home with our 9 mo old

No combos to recommend here (although if you want, I can look in the purée cookbook I didn't use and give you some ideas).

Just wanted to say my DD loved parsnips. Which was not something I had ever eaten.

You definitely don't need rice cereal! It causes serious constipation in some babies, too.

DS likes peas mixed with pears. I know, weird, but he loves it.

Well, they use white rice, don't they? I'm not surprised that it constipates some babies... white rice has been stripped of its fiber, among other nutrients...

The concept of rice cereal stems from when formula was more incomplete and ff babies needed it. It is completely unnecessary now. For ff or bf.

Re: Favorite "combos" for your LO?

So far my DS really likes apple sauce with goat milk yogurt, and sorta likes beef with rice (the beef pureed and the rice cooked with organic chicken stock and pureed, too). He's not much of a fan of BLW, as far as I can tell -- he responds best to purees. But he likes to feed himself with the spoon (he's almost 8 months old).

Sweet potatoes and beets!!!! Tasty and a beautiful color!!
Lentils and applesauce (sometimes with carrots too)
Strawberries and carrots (mix it in oatmeal or hot mixed grains cereal is also yummy)

Sent from my Droid....probably while nursing ....interpret accordingly

Premade purees here... baby LOVES pears and raspberries, banana and blueberries and blackberries, and sweet potato with white beans and cinnamon. He's just getting into mixed varieties and those seem to be the ones he likes best.
