Picture Schedule Mat for my DD

My 3 year old with ASD has been using picture schedules during her ABA therapy for a while now. They work great except that her therapist just lays the laminated activity cards on the floor and that is completely irresistible to my 13 month old DD. DD1 makes this nice schedule for the session and then DD2 breezes by and in one second destroys the entire thing!

I finally got around to making a solution. I took two pieces of fabric and sewed them together with some lightweight fusible interfacing in the middle and sewed a strip of velcro down the middle. I glued some little squares of velcro to the back of the activity cards and - viola! - a schedule that will be much harder for my DD2 to destroy!



I also sewed a loop of elastic in to the end so the mat can be rolled up and stored out of the way when it isn't in use. I'm so excited to show it to my DD's therapist at tomorrow's session. She'll love it! And my DD will love that her schedule is more little-sister-resistant.

Oh thank you! But I can't take credit for the fabric - my DD picked them out. Well, she picked them out of my stash, so I guess we can share the credit.

I'm gonna borrow this idea my son. I've been trying to find the hanging one with clear pockets but they are so expensive. I think I can make exactly what I'm wanting after seeing yours thank you so much!
