One thing you might try (I never did for some reason) is a polyurethane spray. This is the waterproof spray that you find in the camping section of most stores. It's cheap and easy to use and might save your diapers. Use it outside cause it's some stinky stuff.

I'm sorry you had this happen. I have had leaks with my KNOS but only after baby has totally soaked them or overnight. They are still my favorite and it rarely happens. I looked at the PUL and it is pristine. I have only used one cycle (not a soak) of bleach (1/4) after my LO had thrush rash on her bum. I stripped right after so they were rinsed thoroughly right away. I wonder if it is the bleach? I do line dry. Maybe I should put them through the dryer every now and then too. Did anything help?
