Exclamation Please help! What else will I need to start cding?

I'm preparing to cd my first(due in Oct). I've already got coming 12 small FB and 12 MOE Inserts made from 3 layers of microfiber material.

What else will I need to have on hand to start with? i.e. will I need doublers? more liners for nighttime? If so what kind is best? What size doublers etc. will fit the small FB?

Thanks for the help! I want to be prepared so that I'm not left stranded when the baby comes.

You should have about 24 newborn diapers. You could get some IPFs or CPFs (prefolds) and some wraps or get more FB or some BumGenius. You will probably be changing the diapers at night so one insert will probably be enough (or you can get some hemp joeybunz, too). Also, my boys didn't fit into small FB until they were about 2 weeks old because their legs were so skinny--so you might want to try some x-small FB or just use fitteds or prefolds the first 2 weeks.

I second pfs and covers. Even if you love your FBs you just may need those prefolds. Don't forget snappis or pins for your pfs.

I would also recommend a wetbag for soiled dipes.

Abby will be six weeks on Monday and she's still wearing her xsmall FB. She may fit her smalls, but I'm not going to fix what isn't broken. That being said, we only have 12 FB and we wash daily, so if you don't wanna' wash that frequently you may wanna' get more. (I have some bGs that we could use, but I don't like how bulky they are on her, so we use 'em if we really run out while washing.) There is a thread here that is titled, "Pockets for NBs?" or something like that. I've got pictures of her (so you can see the fit) there.

Re: Please help! What else will I need to start cding?

I am due early Sept and have my stash set. I would suggest some fitteds, prefolds and covers for a little variety. I have heard several mamas say that FB smalls don't fit for a few weeks or so, best to have something on hand that will for sure. I hear a lot of great things about KL0's for NB (I have a bunch) as well as BSWW and Prowraps. I just got hooked on wool and I can see that it will be a favorite over fitteds. The preemie prefolds will work fromt he beginning and then can be used as a doubler/insert in your pocket dipes. I was told about 24 NB dipes on hand and 6+ covers. I would also suggest cloth wipes, some liners for the new poo, and a wet bag to keep them in until laundry day.

Definitely some prefolds. Newborns poop soooo much, these are a snap to wash and dry- and they are cheap, so if they get stained you don't care! We used prowrap covers until ds was about 12 weeks- then I started in on other diapers, such as pockets, fitteds, etc. I'd never give up my prefolds though. We used them double duty as puke rags when we realized we had a major spitter.

I also would suggest fitteds & covers for the Newborn stage. You can find some adorable Newborn fitteds lots of time on FSOT or if you want to buy new, Kissaluvs 0's aren't too super expensive, considering that you can resell them when you're done with them. I had quite a few Mutts Newborns ( http://www.muttaqinbaby.com) and I absolutely loved them! They don't fit really long, but really contain BF poo well and are more absorbent than Kissaluvs. HTH and Good Luck!!
