Elastic for diaper darling pattern

How long did you cut your elastic for the free diaper darling newborn pattern. I 'm making diapers from the bigger of the two patterns and without a newborn to put them on I'm not really sure how snug the elastic should be. My daughter had huge thighs even at birth so I tend to want to make it looser but I also want to be able to hold in bfp. Just let me know what worked to you...

I don't measure ever. Just stretch and sew.

If you can wait for the pattern to get to you, it has a slightly different version of the newborn on it and all elastic measurements are given.

I don't measure my elastic as I don't case, I sew my elastic in. If you sew it in you don't want to measure. But the recommended elastic for the larger NB is 9". You need to measure it stretched out as much as you want it. If you cut it relaxed you will have your elastic way to big.

I took one end of the elastic, and lined it up with the first marker on the pattern, and then stretched it along the curve to the next marker, took note of how long it was, and cut. I used that peice as a template for the other side. I also stitch down my elastic, and find this works best for making sure the elastic is even.

thanks momma, I'll just wait. It's just so hard to not want to start working on fluff. My nesting instinct has got me crafting something everyday. I made my daughter two sets a pjs just to keep my hands busy yesterday
