Keilbasa still good??

Here's another one of those judgement calls. I bought a thing of Keilbasa a few days before Christmas. In the hustle of finishing up my shopping and getting home, I forgot it was in the bag with the gifts until the next day. Disgusted with myself I tossed it into the fridge to deal with later.

I had bought it to make keilbasa and sauerkraut for New Years. Don't really want to start the new year off with food poisening. Any guesses on whether it's safe to eat? I generally keep the temp in my house at 65, but I can't gaurentee that it was that night.

How long was it out and is it in packaging like the Hillshire Farms kielbasa?

It could have been out for as long as 12 hours. I'm really not sure exactly what time I brought it in from the car (we live in PA and it was nippy out) or what time I noticed it still in the bag.

Yep it is the Hillshire Farm keilbasa and packaged like it's been shrink wrapped. That's what gives me the feeling it might be ok. lol

But they were on sale buy one get one free tonight so I picked up some more in case the verdict is to toss. lol It can be kept a long while and with my DH being polish we it more often then most, so either way is fine.

Might be too late but if it's a kraut/beer/crockpot thing I would totally make it. HF is preserved up the waz.

I was going to to do it in the oven with pork and sauerkraut. no beer. lol
