100% wool sweaters for soakers

DS keeps leaking at night in our prefolds or in disposables so I'd really like to make a couple of wool soakers for night time for extra protection. I have a couple of thrift store sweaters that I'd like to use, but do I need to felt them first? In the past when I have tried to felt sweaters for soakers they have shrunk way too much to really give much workable fabric.

Any advice??

Yeah you never know what is going to happen with sweaters, if they are thick enough, don't felt them.
