I thought you had to heat wool at a simmer to get the protein fibers to accept the dye? I have only worked with procion dyes, myself.

You can do it in the washer if you crank your hot water tank up. I have several yards going now to sell, I usually make it to sew with, but there is a big demand for dyed goods.
I just listed a ton of colors that I did in the washer, you can see them on the site for ideas for the washer. Basically, I turn the hot water tank to hot hot hot, fill the washer, add the dye, add dry unwashed wool and let it agitate about 10 minutes. I then dump in some salt, like a hand ful, then a cup of vinegar and let it go another 10 minutes. I let it spin out and throw it in the dryer. You are all done then.
