Sorry for the delay. Gideon's favorite place to be right now is sleeping in my arms or nursing.

After discovering we had very low fluid, we reported to the hospital and discussed all of our options with the OB on call. Due to estimated size, what appeared to be lack of progress, and previous c-section, it was decided a repeat c-section was the best option for all involved. I was having very strong contractions the whole time, but they were too short and too close together to do anything productive. Around 9:30 pm on Wednesday January 4, they took me back for surgery. Gideon Samuel was born at 10:11 pm, weighing 9 lbs, 9 oz and measuring 20 1/2 inches long. He also, we discovered, was so tangled in his cord that a vaginal delivery would not have been possible had we tried. He baptized the nurses who cleaned him up and I was only away from him while being stitched. He has no trouble with breastfeeding and has latched like a pro from the start. My only issue is he is cluster feeding like crazy and my milk is not in yet, so I'm a bit sore. Surgery recovery is slower going this time around, but I was finally able to get up to the bathroom and back to bed unassisted tonight. We'll go home Saturday or Sunday.

Big brother Reuben is totally in love with him. It's precious to watch them together.

I was thinking the same thing! Look at all the chubby cheeks coming from the Jan babies!
