goign from hard water to softened - wash routine suggestions?

I'm moving in about 2 weeks to a place that has softened water (landlord wants us to keep using the softener to protect the appliances/lines). I currently have very hard water, and a front load washer. I use rockin' green hard rock, but I'm almost out of that anyway. I usually do a full wash, no detergent on cold, hot wash with 2 TBSP RnG, and an extra wash cycle, cold no detergent.

Suggestions on what I should do to change up my routine? I'm afraid I'm going to end up using way too much detergent. Also wondering if I'll see a lot of residue washing out with the softened water.

I don't really care for the feel or taste of softened water, but I'll get used to it.
