Show me your summer newbies in going home outfits and fluff!

Home made or store bought. I need ideas for what kinds of fluff to make/buy my newborn due in June, and what kind of going home/newborn outfits to make/buy. I have limited sewing and knitting skills and can crochet. It gets pretty hot around here in June (100+) so I'm not sure what kind of outfits to go with. I'd love to see and hear about what you've done for summer babies! TIA!

I haven't gotten to CD a newborn. But..what about a knit romper? Shorts and short sleeve one obviously and just use a lighter weight yarn? Like gaia worsted or LT?

I live in Louisiana and due end of May. I made an Eloise Romper that I may use, but not sure yet. It's short sleeved, longies. I figure NB's need to be warm, and we will be in the air condition, so long pants will work for a bit

Re: Show me your summer newbies in going home outfits and fluff!

We weren't prepared for her homecoming - I was staying at a RMH 2.5 hrs from home to be near dd in the hospital - she was expected to be discharged in September around her due date but on July 26th a nurse mentioned there was a possibility she'd be discharged sooner - we were pleasantly surprised she got to come home on July 28th, six weeks before her due date! So she wore a preemie Carter's outfit someone had sent to us while she was in the NICU and a cute white cardigan I bought at the hospital gift shop. Nothing fancy at all! LOL!

I agree with Amy...a romper in gaia worsted!

Re: Show me your summer newbies in going home outfits and fluff!

DD was born in September, but it was 92 degrees when we left the hospital with her.

She just wore a simple lap tee, natural single-ply Merino Twisty Trousers, cotton socks, hat, and mitts. I was expecting cooler weather for our trip home when we left for the birthing center.

(Pardon the masses of bracelets. I have med allergies so I had to wear constant reminders to everyone in case of a transfer. )

Re: Show me your summer newbies in going home outfits and fluff!

My LO was born in June, but it was still not super hot, so she wore rompers/longies. Once it warmed up, Molly bubble rompers, soakers and skirties were what she wore.

Her first two outfits

Molly Bubble Romper

Bumby xsmall interlock soaker This fit just perfectly

If I have another girl in the summer, I'm definitely knitting up some skirtyalls. I just finished this one and I love it!

Re: Show me your summer newbies in going home outfits and fluff!

I was a new mom when DS was born, too nervous to use CD in the hospital or even to put on clothes on him. But if I can do all over again, I will definitely go with gift wrap romper (short sleeve and short pants) or kimono style romper.. Anything that has buttons all the way down so I don't need to squish his tiny head to put it on
