Re: We tried food again, went poorly & I feel like garbage about it

I second the being scoped fo an eosinophilic disease. I have three boys with eos and your son's reactions sound similar. CHOP is know for being a good eos centre even if you weren't happy with a previous stay, it may still be worth looking into.

He has had allergy testing & some clear cut allergic reactions. His skin testing was positive for a lot of things but his blood work was negative. Some doctor's we've seen said the skin is more accurate, others said the blood is. Though I know it really doesn't mean a whole lot. I have bad allergies (hives, calling 911, etc) & testing shows nothing.

He also recently reacted to rocephin antibiotic shot at the hospital and a chewable amoxillicillian but with the chewable, we don't know if it was the med itself or the dairy in the chewable. He had an obvious quick, bad reaction to peanuts & latex and we do have an epi-pen jr for him.

The GI here has never said anything about EOS anything. I will definitely ask more about it when we are back next. The symptoms were always exact fit for my middle dd but she never had a diagnosis either. I think what baffles them is his size & they don't want to be too pushy with trying new foods with his blood sugar. I think if he was small or even average, they'd be rushing to find the problem. We just saw the GI dr again last week. She said she is going to skip the upper GI since she'd just be looking for structural abnormalities which she doubts he has & said her next step would be a feeding clinic. My middle dd outgrew this mystery ailment at 3.5 yrs so she said let's give this a little more time & then revisit the next step. I think they are hoping he outgrows this sooner than later, so am I. I just know that in not quite 2 years, he'll be at preschool/playschool a couple mornings a week. I just hope I can send him with out his bottle & with out getting sick every 2 seconds. Right now we can't go anywhere with out him picking something up, getting it really bad & ending up at the hospital. He's been there at least once every month for the last 3 months now.

For right now, I'm okay to take a bit of a GI breather. He keeps getting sick & in the hospital so that's been pushed to the front of the line priority wise. I also have some serious health conditions that have gotten worse (orthopedic & GI related, he certainly is my son LOL) & 2 other special needs children, 1 who has been having more issues herself.
