My mom said she used softener and bleach on my diapers back in the day and never had a problem! Went on to use them for my twin brothers 5-yrs-later, also without problems.

Re: Holy Softness, Batman!

I always used softener on my diapers and never had any issues with repelling.

I use Ecover on my diapers sometimes (not every wash, more like every third). I do like the softness.

Good to know. FTM and I will start using tide. Now I know when my prefolds get crunchy I can soften them with something other than nasty vinegar!

I put a pre-rinse, hot wash/rinse,two caps of bleach in the dispenser, fill up the softener dispenser, and program an extra rinse. It's all programmed, so I don't know, but you could use a downy ball, maybe?

Re: Holy Softness, Batman!

I am curious as to how many moms on this board use fabric softener that is NOT a plant based natural one without any problems on your diapers? I know alot of us use ecover or another natural based softener as those have been established as "safe" to use on cloth, but how many of you use a NON-natural one with NO problems?

Subbing for replies...this is interesting!! :-)

Hehe. What does "subbing" mean? I see that in so many threads and finally get a chance to ask!

My mom used regular Snuggle without problems with diapers for 3 kids.

We have not had a single blowout/leak with the GMD workhorses since I've started using the Downy! I can get a great fit since the fabric is now soft enough to conform nicely to the legs!

I drug out the newborn workhorses and washed those with the downy as well. If I'm going to store them, I want them as soft and pliable as possible, especially the elastic!
