Thoughts from those who used Insanity?
I'm wondering if anyone has done the complete program and what are your thoughts? I'm looking for a new work out dvd's. Currently i'm using my old The FIRM with fanny lifter for the past 2.5mths and my body has adjusted to them. I'm sitting on a plateau and can't get off. Normally I exercise 4-6x a week so doing it 6 days isn't unreasonable for me. I'm not new at working out and I know they are tough tapes, but that's what I need I think. I especially need to work my core and thighs area. I saw the set on craigslist for $60 and I was thinking of getting it but I want some real reviews on it instead of just what they put on their infomerfcials.
Thanks

Re: Thoughts from those who used Insanity?
I liked it, but couldn't finish it. I'm in fairly good shape (workout 5-7 days a week, did my first triathlon a few months ago, etc.) but it is very intense, which was okay with me, but also very high impact, which was a problem. By the end of the first week, I was having to ice my knees every night, by the end of the second week I was sitting on ice packs for my hips as well. I got through the first 28 days, plus the next 7 days of "recovery week" and then didn't start up on day 36, I just quit. I did see some results, but not nearly what I expected, and didn't lose a single pound.
DH & I were just talking about it tonight because I was thinking about restarting it and he's practically begging me not to. He did some of the videos with me (he's Army, awesome shape, runs 6-8 miles every day) and he struggled on some of them. He told me that if I do them again, I need to back off some and not try to keep up with the same height and tempo as what they are doing. One thing that I really didn't like about them was that there is a warm up, then when you are nice and warm and ready to go, he makes you stop for 8 minutes or so for stretching. Blah. Then you restart at max intensity as though you just finished the warm up, even though your body has started to cool down because you just spent all that time stretching. It would be better if he'd moved that to the end. Also, they are pretty repetitive. There are sets of exercises that you just repeat over and over and over at increasing intensity levels, and he uses the same moves again and again in almost every video. I really couldn't tell must difference from one day to the next, there's almost no variety. So, Pros are it's intense, and short (each video is about 35-40 minutes). Cons are painful on joints, no variety.

I just started it and am in the first week. It's tough. The key is to go at your own pace. I definitely can see I will really tone up. It's GREAT for your core !
I also bought mine off CLs. New is box for $70. I was so excited.

Re: Thoughts from those who used Insanity?
It's HARD! I finished, but by the end I was totally dreading every single workout. It gets repetitive and kind of boring after a while. I did see results in that I am now more toned but also was a bit frustrated at not losing more weight than I did. If you are looking for a DVD set that's a bit more intense but still fun, I HIGHLY recommend Turbo Fire. I love Chalene Johnson and her workouts are great!

Re: Thoughts from those who used Insanity?
Thanks guys. I did get it off CL for $50. I just finished week 1 tonight. I have noticed the repetiveness of it. But I'm also seeing some toning difference. The problem is I've gained a lb this week?!
I was stuck on a plateau before I started and thought this would help. I really need something where I can lose 40lbs yet. I debated this and turbofire, but this was on CL and cheap compared to the $120 for TF. I will try to stick with it. If anything at the end of 8wks i will sell it if I don't like it. Dh now decided he is going to get P90x from his brother. So I might try that next.

I am ISO work out dvds (insanity zumba etc.) And I know this thread is not a fsot thread but I can't find anyone selling any on here or CL or ebay (ebay is full price and I cant afford that if I still want to feed my family lol). If anyone is looking to sell any workout dvds I would be very interested in purchasing them! Did I mention its my birthday this weekend so it would be an awesome present!

I'm late to this thread, but I just finished insanity. I didn't follow the eating guide but I did count calories and ET healthy. I have toned up a ton and lost 15 lbs! I'm starting turbo fire.

Re: Thoughts from those who used Insanity?
I'm just starting insanity after doing 2 months of moms into fitness 60 day slim down. So far it does seem pretty hard on my knees but Ive always had some knee issues from high school cheerleading. Does it get easier on your joints? I am hoping to tone up and lose the last 10 pounds to get to my goal weight.

I know this is kind of an old thread but I'm glad I saw this. I've been wanting to get intensity or P90X but I have knee and back issues. Thanks for the reviews!
