Smell?

I had my staples removed and whatever the nurse put over the strips smells, badly. And it still smells a week or more later. I've tried to clean it the best I can but it still smells, and strong. DH says he can smell it.

Anyone else expierencing this? Or have any suggestions? Sorry if that was TMI but I'd be appreciated.

Are you sure it's not your incision? Is it a chemical smell or a rotting smell?

I think I know exactly the smell you're talking about. Mine was only the day of though, it's weird it would still smell a week later. It's like a chemically smell right??

I just had the steristrips placed last Monday. Mine had that chemical smell at first too. I was freaked at first, but there wasn't any signs of infection and after a few days of showering and making sure the area was nice and dry, the smell disappeared.
I don't know if that smell should linger if it's the stuff they rub with the steri strips. I'd go and have it checked out, just in case.

Re: Smell?

When I had my steri strips put on they also put some kind of ointment stuff that smelled awful and it hung around for awhile. As long as it doesn't smell like an infection and isn't oozy inflamed or swollen I would say all is normal but it doesn't hurt to call and ask your Dr.

I guess its sort of a chemical smell. The doctor said everything looks great and try using a baby wipe to clean it better, but the smell is normal.

Re: Smell?

Try using a wash cloth to gently scrub the incision and then pat dry with a towel. Then finnish drying with a hair dryer on low. I've had three c-sections and this is what I did for them.
