Re: Reflux and blue lips?
Hi. Just got out of the hospital.. He doesent have any epileptic movement while this happens. He usualy goes really limp ( he already is because he's hypotonic ) and just looks at us and turns blue.. He is on an oxymeter whrn he does that and he desats around 75% so we blow in his face and he tries to take breaths but it's like he gulps instead.. I dont know if that makes sence. It happens alot whrn he's layi g down. Actually it ALWAYS happends when laying down. We saw a neuro.. eNT.. Ped.. The ent noticed a couple of ear inf since 2 months which is a lot.. So she put tubes in yesterday and also did a laryngoscopy.. She said his vocal cords and laryng are moderately inflamed.. And he has a small and narrow oesophagus. Which all leads to reflux,, i have started his meds last week again but it seems like he did these episodes anyways. We went home again but i am really scared.. I mean he stops breathing for a good 30 sec which is a lot and the nurses also panickd when they saw him do it. He turns really blue. And i am so not exagerating! Whrn its finished he just falls asleep.. We did notice however that he is constantl making chewing sounds like he's ruminating something. I talkrd to my ped today and she told me that when vocal cords close to protect themself there is no way to open them by force without damaging them. So u might as welll pump oxygen or intubate it just wont work.. She said the kid turns blue and sometimes loses conscience and that's when te muscles on the vocal cords relax.
