Wool soaker question

So I bought some wool soakers that were like seconds and am confused. These are pieces of wool so Do i use them next to my baby's skin or in a pocket like a bum genius under the microfiber soaker?

Re: Wool soaker question

A soaker is usually a cover which goes on the outside, but it sounds like these are just strips of wool? I would guess you would lanolize them so they are waterproof, and then put them on the outside of the diaper between the diaper and the cover for extra waterproofing. I could be wrong but that is what makes sense to me! Maybe others who use them can chime in?

Re: Wool soaker question

I saw some in my local CD store. They go underneath another insert, and pull liquid through it to themselves, so they fabric closer to baby's skin stays dryer and they absorb a lot, supposedly.

Re: Wool soaker question

My understanding is they go under all the absorbent layers of a diaper that has a snap-in or lay-in soaker, to help repel the wetness back into the diaper soaker. It's kind of confusing, all the different things that are called "soaker"

I know! That's why when I did more research I was more confused with what I had. So it sounds like I will be putting this in the pocket. So would you put it next to baby's skin? I am going to test it to see how scratchy it is but that's what I Thought I was supposed to do in the first place. Maybe not tho..

Have you felt them yet? The only wool 'soakers' I have felt that were insert style were really rough feeling, IMO.

I just felt them. I thought after lanolizing them they would get soft. But I was wrong. So in the pocket they go!

They are not designed to go next to babies skin, but inbetween the soaker/insert and diaper cover.

They aren't terribly absorbent... Are they supposed to be?
