Elastic leaving marks
But if I do it looser in afraid it will leak. How do you know when the fit is right? And are marks on their legs always bad? I mean, even socks leave marks, right?

Re: Elastic leaving marks
Unless it's bothering your LO, I wouldn't worry to much. DS3 has huge thighs, and pretty much diapers (even sposies) leave red marks.

I only worry if the marks are bad enough to not disappear in 5-10 minutes. I make big chunky babies, there isn't a diaper made that doesn't leave some kind of mark.

I always compare it to socks too. If they aren't bothered by it then it's ok.

Most diapers have left marks on my LOs, even my skinny thighed DD. It never bothered me before, and I always figured people that complained about red marks were just being picky. As you said, socks leave marks too.
Then my chunky DS came along, and the dipes I used to love with DD left ANGRY red marks on his thighs. And I was like "oohhhhhhh..... THOSE are red marks". The kind that don't disappear for several hours. Even after leaving him in fleece for the rest of the day, I could still see red lines. If it looks like impression marks (like from socks) I wouldn't worry. If it looks sore and angry, either time to adjust the fit or get a different cover. I had 11 thirsties covers, and I've only kept a couple as spares for DD. Posting from my iPhone, hope it's legible
