How many of your are bad moms like me???
And still willingly let your 21month olds have pacis?
![]() DS has never been a great sleeper, but other than that he is an easy going kid. He also doesn't have a lot of crying fits as long as his "monk-monk" (paci) is within reach. He uses one of those soothie pacis attached to a wubbanub. I just had to buy him a new one tonight because if he just has a loose paci at night in his crib, he loses it and wakes up all night long. However, with the monk-monk he sleeps all night. I'll admit I know I should probably start weaning him from it, but he is JUST now sleeping all night long . I work full time and DH will NOT get up with the baby in the middle of the night . Part of me would rather pay for braces later so that I can sleep now!Does this make me a bad mommy??

Yep I'm one of those too, Ds had his paci till he was 3, in bed only. He was a wonderful sleeper I wasn't going to mess with that.

Yeah, see....I let DS have it all day long. I work and I feel guilty that I can't be there to comfort him, so I let him take the paci. When he gets hurt all he wants is a hug and "monk-monk". Other than that he usually only takes it at nap and bed, but he likes to know that its available when he wants it!

My twins are 20 months (18.5 adjusted) and I just took their wubbanub paci's away within the past week or so. I didn't really want to take them away but there were many reasons. To start, one bubbie (riley) wasn't as attached as the other and only needed it for naps and bedtime and the other bubbie (zayden) NEEDED his all day every day, unless he was eating or drinking. They also don't talk much, they aren't behind (for their adjusted age) but the words that he (zay) did know, he wouldn't take his paci out of his mouth to say them. So I didn't want it to possibly progress into a bigger problem later. I'm not saying this will happen to any of you, I was just being cautious. Lol.
Besides that reason, Riley was diagnosed with RSV and was almost admitted for not getting enough oxygen. Then a week later he got pneumonia and then a few days later Zayden was diagnosed with RSV. So somewhere within those weeks I started weaning them off paci's because of the high risk of spreading it that way. They don't care who gets which paci and switch them, steal them, share them, etc. so I just took them away. It was rough the fist few days, but it's better now and I don't think they miss them all that much. They are both also really attached to their blanket so I think that helped a lot.

You are not a bad mommy! Ds had his paci well into being two years old. I did not take it away it fell in the river at my parents cabin and he was fine with the baby fish having his paci so we never gave him another paci to replace the lost one.

I think I might be the worst. Destructobaby is 28 months *blush* and still uses a paci at night, AND has a bottle before bed (hides under table now)

Not a bad mommy!
My son used a pacifier pretty much ALL the time for his first 18 months. At that point, we started limiting it to car, naps, and nighttime only. He kept his paci for naps and bed until his 3rd birthday. We started talking it up a few weeks before his birthday, and he willingly gave it up at that point. I think my son would have happily kept using it, but we were noticing that his two upper front teeth were suffering, so we made the choice to take it away. It wasn't at all traumatic, but he never napped again.

If you are a bad mommy then call cps on me quick.
My older girls used pacis until they were 5. My son was 4. My 4 other kids wouldnt take one. But we also have a kid with a bottle habit that started when she was sick with a rare disorder and she still uses it now. Not a big deal IMO. My big girls have perfect teeth. Never needed braces etc. they are 13 and 14 now. No speech issues either.
