I am by no means an expert, but it sounds like your dr is giving you terrible advice. As long as your LO isn't losing weight and is hitting milestones and growing, I don't see an issue.

My DD is almost the exact same size as yours. She will be 10 months on Tuesday, is 16 lbs 7 oz and 26.5 inches. She was EBF until 6.5 months, and she eats some solids now, but mostly still breastmilk. No formula. Ped said she's doing great, and is just small.

I would keep doing what you're doing mama. If your LO has started solids, you can try giving fatty foods like avocado, cooking eggs with coconut oil or butter, and whole milk yogurt. But if it were me, I'd skip the formula.

Single mama to my sweet D. Taking life one day at a time.

Re: Opinions Please.....

i would follow your instinct. let you lo grow to 12 or 14 months and see if he fattens up on his own. if he doesn't then i would seek supplements.

I had the same problem. Glad you are following your gut! Breast milk has more calories than formula. I will never understand why they want to supplement. Hang on there momma.
