Re: best NB fitted
I second Mutts. And especially the Ai2s for going out. She's got a few left in her shop from the stocking this afternoon....

I haven't used them yet but I have some nb Bububebe fitteds that are super soft and squishy. I think they will be more absorbent than the nb mutt I have. I love our OS Bububebes and they are so absorbent!

Re: best NB fitted
I used a combo of Green Mountain workhorse fitteds, Thirsties Duo Fab Fitteds size 1, and Kissaluvs size 0 on my newborn. They were all good in their own ways--the workhorse and Kissaluvs diapers were more trim than the Thirsties but also not as absorbant, so they were outgrown (out-peed?) faster. All held in BF poop well. Kissaluvs were very soft and cushy but stained quickly, while the Thirsties were super soft and washed up better. Workhorse dipes were great for the price but not quite as soft. They all fit well into extra-small wrap covers. If I had to do it again I would skip the Kissaluvs--for the same price I'd rather have Thirsties, which I could use much longer.
