Re: "but formula is better than breastmilk"

This was an interesting thread to read...

I chose not to make a fancy signature advertising my labels because I didn't want to feel like I was preaching to others, nor do I want to label myself. I am breastfeeding, and it works perfectly for me, better than perfect some days, but I don't want to brag about it or rub others the wrong way. I have nothing against formula, or the people who choose to use it. I figure everyone has their reasons.

About people in other countries...since I live in another country I have to say that one person's opinions shouldn't be used to judge the entire country. I don't know this particular 18 year old, but in general I wouldn't consider an 18 year old who didn't have kids to be well informed about breastfeeding or formula. I didn't know anything about breastfeeding until I took a class at age 30 when I was 6 months pregnant.

At my baby shower one of the things was to write me a piece of advice for being a mom. I got the usual buy sleep sacks, sleep when the baby sleeps, etc. I also got "buy a case of wine and drink a glass every night."

Best advice ever.
