Re: if I am forced into scheduleing a csection...

I tried to reason with my OB about scheduling a section and in the end just not making the surgery appointment was the best. the OB kept saying at your next appointment we will schedule your section. but I never made it. Then I had my baby at home and did not need a surgery.

You can even so politly tell them "you can schedule it for whichever day you like, but i will not be available until after x date for a c-section...I will, however, show up for a normal, vaginal delivery should the need arise"
Yep, that's about what I would say. Not sure I'd be so polite though.

Me too. It would probably be a three word, one profanity sentence. (Or a two word, one profanity sentence.)

Then again, I wouldn't have tolerated a doctor who thought he could perform major abdominal surgery on me without my consent.

Re: if I am forced into scheduleing a csection...

I just had a VBA2C in December. My scheduled c/s date was 40+3, and I went into labor 40 wks exactly. If I had to do it over, I would never have let him schedule at all...or at least not until 42 wks. I was getting desperate towards the end. You don't need any more stress than you already have.

Re: if I am forced into scheduleing a csection...

You may not find this comfortable to do and I think it helped me that I didn't have much in the way of prenatal care until I returned to the US at 30 weeks (I got pregnant when I was in South Korea). I was going for a VBAC and I was doing it AMA but it was what I wanted. First OB, I saw, I didn't go back to and I was like past 30 weeks, maybe 32 or 33 weeks? I don't remember. Second OB got smart, figured I would go to a midwife or something like that so he grudgingly supported me though I had to sign a bunch of stuff but at least he didn't practically scream at me like the first OB did and tell the nurse to SCHEDULE the cesarean instead of even giving me a chance (all because of my BMI too).

Anyway. I got to my 39 week appointment and I had been there earlier that week and the OB kind of freaked out on me because of the baby's heart rate which I think went up because he scared her half to death with a faulty doppler. I ended up sitting for several hours in L&D and decided that since he would do a check at the 39 week appointment and I didn't want that to determine what he would do next I would simply not go. I had a midwife on call as a monatrice though and was staying with a friend who was also a doula so I did feel more comfortable doing this. I didn't go back until I went into labor which was 15 days after the last appointment I went to--oops. And when I did go, I was very much in active labor, was having contractions a minute apart by then. They did slow down because of all the dumb stuff they were doing and I think my body reacted to it but things got back on track and I had the baby 2 1/2 hours after I got to the hospital. Just my experience but again, it all depends on how comfortable you feel. You don't have to go to the appointment. You don't have to call and schedule. Yeah, they may go looking for you but you can ignore their calls too which was what I did. I'm sure they probably weren't too happy with me about it but it gave me the best chance of having a VBAC.

Some won't due to the concern of uterine rupture. It just all depends on the doc. I personally would not have gone with an induction before a cesarean especially as an induction is probably likely to fail and it can cause some issues in the meantime (not always the case and it would just depend on the why and other factors, you know?). But that's why some don't do it.
