After some trial and error i love my taylormade mesh ringsling. I am generally not a rs fan. But it worked so my daughter last summer (9-13 months) using mostly hip carries in the pool with my then 2 year old who can swim on his own but only for a few feet without a float.

I have a taylormade on the way. I am glad that someone mentioned that one in this thread. I was a bit nervous oredring it as I have not used a ring sling yet.
