(to me!).
We have family in town, my grandparents actually that I moved about 30 hours away from at the age of 11, and have only seen them maybe 4 or 5 times since then.... they are so dear to me, and it breaks my heart that I haven't been able to know them and be a part of their lives for the past 15 years. I have been a complete mess since they got here. Panic attack yesterday morning, then after they came over for dinner and went home last night, we put the kids to bed and I cried for about... oh maybe 2 hours. Couldn't sleep all night. This morning we went out with them and got back around 3, dd was napping so I laid her down.... So just me and my son, and all I want to do is lay down because I am beat! And cry some more because I am so emotional right now.... My sweet little boy just looks at me so patiently and lovingly and he asks me, "mom do you want to do this together?", "mom how about you come do this with me?"........ So I'm all distracted and say "ok, after I call your dad really quickly" ...(about ds bday gift) After calling him I come out of my bedroom and see ds, he has pulled out glue, paper, all kinds of other crafting materials and has laid them all out across the table. He is sitting on his hands waiting for me to come make glue crafts with him. I was so moved by this. Then as we are sitting there glueing and coloring, I notice he is making a point of talking to me.... he's normally talkative, but this was so different. He was specifically making sure I was engaged with what we were doing so my mind wouldn't wander and me end up with tears rolling down my face (like what happened during our snack). Anyway, my ds is 5 on Saturday... he blows me away all the time with what a gentle and sweet spirit he is, but I wanted to share this because it just means so much to me.
