3 yo girl with hairy back

My 3 year old dd has hair on her lower back that seems to be getting darker and thicker rather than fading. She has always had it I was just thinking it would get lighter not darker We've both got an olive skin tone and I have similar hair near the base of my hair line on my head but it seems so soon for her to have it. It also kind of throws me off because her hair is closer to blond while mine is dark brown. Any other mamas with experience? Could it be a sign of any other problems like hormonal issues or is she just going to be a hairy girl?

When my daughter was about 3 1/2 she became very hairy. I was very disturbed by it. Her ped. said it is not uncommon.

Well glad to know it's happened to at least one other girl!

One day my daughter asked me what the black strings on her legs were.

Re: 3 yo girl with hairy back

My 6 year old daughter has a hairy back, the whole back from neck to lower back. She was super hairy when she was born (she had the hairiest shoulders I have ever seen!) and my sisters called her Sasquatch My MIL and DH are both hairy and unfortunately it looks like she inherited it. My MIL's hair is blonde though and DD's is very dark. She doesn't know about it and so far nobody has said anything but I am not sure what to do about it as she gets older because it is definitely VERY noticeable and she is such a girly girl so I am sure it is going to be a problem

Re: 3 yo girl with hairy back

I had a friend when I was little who had blonde hair, and was head to toe, long blonde hair : ) Yeah, it may be odd that her hair on her back is darker, but like I have light ash auburn hair, and my eyebrows are pretty much black. You could always look into a hormonal thing, but I think she's probably fine.

thanks the replies mamas. I'm hoping it lightens up but there are plenty worse things in life to worry about.

It is very common in my family. I remember all my cousins having that when they were young, as do my kids, and I'm guessing I did too. It was gone by the time we were all adults.

As long as it's not just over her spine all should be fine. Even then it's most likely ok
