Does this mean the diaper is uselesss?
So i have some pockets (fb and charlie) that i bought used. They worked well for awhile but now they are leaking right thru all over not just at the legs. It seems to happen right after one pee. My lo is 22 mo so she does pee alot when she finally pees. I use microfiber inserts. I have tried hemp and not had good luck.
So does this mean the diaper is delamenated? Or is there a fix? |

It can mean not enough absorbancy. I had the same issue and was convinced my diapers were bad but when I switched to using thirsties organic inserts in my pockets the leaks stopped.

Have you flipped them inside out and looked at the PUL? Any of mine that were delaminating I could clearly see where it was happening. That said, when we get massive leaks through the whole diaper it is usually because she out-peed the inserts!

On one of my Charlie Banana's it completely separated, but on the Fuzzibunz it was just separated in tiny spots that looked like it was bubbling up, some of which ripped open. I would never have noticed it except that my dry hands snagged on it while I was stuffing the diaper.

Re: Does this mean the diaper is uselesss?
The same thing happens each time my DD grows out of the insert (absorbancy wise). First it was happening with MF and now it's happening with one layer of hemp and a booster. They start working fine when I find an insert that is sufficient for her needs and I guess it's time to do that again.
What happened with the hemp? What about stuffing with flats or prefolds? Bamboo?

Re: Does this mean the diaper is uselesss?
For me I only had a few diapers actually delaminate. Once flipped inside out you see either bubbles, crackle spots or even a hole. If it looks normal usually it is. I suspect your diaper is either full of detergent which is preventing it from holding pee or you need a better insert. If you are changing the same frequency you may have a child who has increased pee production. If she is holding in her pee and letting one good one go at a time (what my dd did at that age) it needs more to hold it in. Try adding a doubler or hemp which is slimmer but holds a ton. To test the deteregent level the next time you are washing them, once they are clean stop the washer mid cycle when it is swishing around. If you did not put in soap and you see lots of bubbles that is the problem.
