Freezing formula powder?

I was given three nearly full tins of formula powder, they all say "use within one month of opening" - does it really go bad after a month (the lids still seal tightly, and expire in Nov.2013)? And if they do, can I stick them in the freezer till I need them?

Re: Freezing formula powder?

No, you can't freeze as far as I know. If it is open, you should use within a month - it is probably ok a little bit after but the consistency probably changes. I wouldn't take the chance, especially when you have not delivered/are going to use this on a newborn/little one.

I definitely wouldn't take the chance either, especially with a newborn.

Re: Freezing formula powder?

The nutrients start to break down and bacteria can grow in the sugars, so you really do need to use it within a month.
