Mom- vaginal, no drugs.

Me- vaginal, epi-nothing-epi. I've had natural and medicated.

My mom had very quick labours with both of us. No time for pain relief. I had an epi in my labour that turned c-section. I had a natural birth with my second.

Didn't vote. Mom had medicated with me and natural (though not by choice) with my younger sister. I plan to home birth but am (obviously) open to transfer for pain relief and/or a c-section if needed.

Re: What kind of births did your mom have? What kind do you have?

My mom had two vaginal births, but they were very old-school. She requested an epidural and they essentially knocked her out instead. I'm not that old, either.

I think due to her experience (being told that giving birth was so traumatic that it was better to be unconscious) she was a nervous wreck when I voiced my desire for a natural birth. Only my last one actually was natural, although all three were vaginal. Now she's come over to the dark side and is always talking about how births should involve fewer interventions in general.

My mom had 3 preterm births, 2 twin births and 1 singleton. All were rather quick but I think she had an epidural. I know she said she was yelling for one!
I have had 2 fast natural births; I hate needles!

I think about this a lot, too. I always thought short natural labors, breast feeding and cosleeping were things you just did. Because that's what my mom did.

She had me in a hospital but had no IV, no pain relief, no monitors, no ultrasounds, nothing. I give birth unassisted, but we have identical labors.

Re: What kind of births did your mom have? What kind do you have?

I believe my mom went with pain meds with all 4 of her kids and one of them was a c-section and another was induced. I go drug free and my youngest was born at home. I didn't even tell my mom that I was planning on staying home because she is super mainstream and would've freaked out. She thinks I'm crazy .

My Mom had quick (therefore med free) births. I apparently flew out of her, lol. My brother was a Frank Breech that she delivered vaginally, med free. Had him within 30mins of getting to the hospital.

I had an epi vaginal birth. Fairly quick (9 hrs) but I also had awful back labor. If I hadn't, I believe I could have done it med free and much quicker.

My Mom had 3 natural (epidural and pain-med free), vaginal births at the hospital/women's center.

I had 2 completely natural, vaginal births. The first was at a birth center with my midwife and the second was at home with my same midwife.

My mom had one epidural with my brother and had me naturally 3 years later.

I have had 2 all natural births and 5 epidurals (although my 5th was not successful)

My husbands mother had 6 all natural but gave birth to my husband under hypnosis in 1971.
