Re: YAY! whose planning for a vbac!?
I'll play
![]() 1. Are you planning a VBAC? Yes 2. Have you have a VBAC before? If so, was it successful? Nope, this is only my 2nd pregnancy so my 1st VBAC attempt. 3. Do you ever have doubts about a VBAC? Absolutely. Especially right now since I've been throwing up for the past 33 weeks. One of the reasons I ended up with a c/s was b/c I was vomiting uncontrollably for the final 14 hours of my labor, including the 2.5 hours of pushing that I did. I had literally nothing left. This pregnancy has been no different from the last in the vomiting department and at this point I'd almost rather just schedule the c/s and not have to deal with that again. 4. Are you scared, excited, anxious, nervous, skeptical or all of the above thinking about your VBAC? Excited and scared. Scared b/c my first birthing attempt was so traumatic and I'd hate to relive that. Excited b/c I know infintely more this time around and feel like things really can be different. I'm hoping for some healing and closure, especially since this will most likely be our last bio child. 5. Will it be at home or hospital? Hospital, no other option. The only 2 birth centers in the surrounding 3 hours don't take VBAC patients. Home births are illegal in NC, not to mention the fact that DH and I are totally not comfortable with the idea 6. Are you planning to go natural? The ultimate goal is a vaginal birth, if I have to have an epidural to achieve that, I will. However, I am planning a hypnobabies, med-free birth.

1. Are you planning a VBAC? Yes
2. Have you have a VBAC before? If so, was it successful? 1st VBAC attempt. 3. Do you ever have doubts about a VBAC? Sometimes.... 4. Are you scared, excited, anxious, nervous, skeptical or all of the above thinking about your VBAC? I'm a mix of emotions....I don't feel like I had an experience w dd 5. Will it be at home or hospital? Home with a cerified nurse midwife ( completely legal in NC, if you have just a nurse midwife its illegal for them but not for you, you can't get in any trouble for birthing at home, the reason nurse midwife cannot deliver babies at all hospital or home legally is because NC will not give them a license to practice....just FYI, so you know the facts :-) ) the hospital is 15 min away so if need be I could get to the hospital in time, however coastal NC is not Vbac friendly at all and tries to pressure women into repeat sections all around the area, not a friendly vbac environment so home just makes more sense with a medical professional. 6. Are you planning to go natural? At home so yep all natural, getting a tub :-)

1. Are you planning a VBAC?
Yes, barring valid medical reasons for a repeat CS. 2. Have you have a VBAC before? If so, was it successful? Yes, and yes. DD1 was a CS, DD2 was a successful VBAC. 3. Do you ever have doubts about a VBAC? Constantly, but my doc didn't feel my risk was any higher than average, and the deciding factor was I'd be birthing in a fully equipped hospital with a NICU and I wanted the pain BEFORE the baby was born, not after... 4. Are you scared, excited, anxious, nervous, skeptical or all of the above thinking about your VBAC? A little scared, but not so much since I've already done it successfully. I was never skeptical, but was all the rest the first time for sure. 5. Will it be at home or hospital? Hospital. We needed the hospital for my babies survival the 1st time, so even though everything was normal the second time, I needed the security of the hospital just in case something went wrong. 6. Are you planning to go natural? Um, we'll see. I wanted to wait and see the first time. After an hour of contractions 3 minutes apart with back labor so i only had about a 30 second break between excruciating pain (i went to the hospital after contractions woke me up and went from 5 to 3 minutes like clockwork in 30 minutes), i was begging for the epidural, and i took the narcotics too. It wasn't the slow buildup most people have, but zero to 'oh my gosh i think I'm going to die please make it stop' in about 30 minutes. I plan to play it by ear this time too ![]() I never once felt pressured by hospital or doc to have a repeat CS, i don't think it was ever mentioned once... The hospitals here have "bans" on vbacs and the ones that don't still have an extremely low vbac rate and the "strongly discourage" I'm glad not all hospitals are like that but in my area they are. My first Ob appt ( before I switched care to my mw) he said ok what day to you want to get baby out since its coming out the same shoot.....I said um I want to vbac and he said we'll see, I got the same reaction from other Obs in the area.

1. Are you planning a VBAC? Not yet, ttc!!
2. Have you have a VBAC before? If so, was it successful? No prior vbacs, one c/s 3. Do you ever have doubts about a VBAC? I don't doubt my decision to try for one, but sometimes I doubt that it will happen. I had a picture perfect set up for DD's birth, OB thought I'd give birth within hours, half a day later I was sectioned. I always think of the worst case scenario that could cause me to need a scheduled c/s (breech, overdue, etc) 4. Are you scared, excited, anxious, nervous, skeptical or all of the above thinking about your VBAC? Excited and a bit skeptical I suppose 5. Will it be at home or hospital? Hospital 6. Are you planning to go natural? Probably not, though I hated my epidural and iv pain meds. Ideally I'd like to avoid an epi b/c I loved the spinal I got for my section, should I need a repeat |

Re: YAY! whose planning for a vbac!?
1. Are you planning a VBAC?
Yes, just 13 months after my emergency c-section. 2. Have you have a VBAC before? If so, was it successful? No, but I had two prior vaginal births before my c-section. 3. Do you ever have doubts about a VBAC? No, none. 4. Are you scared, excited, anxious, nervous, skeptical or all of the above thinking about your VBAC? Mostly excited with a little bit of nervous. 5. Will it be at home or hospital? At home, if I make it to 37 weeks. In the hospital if I don't. 6. Are you planning to go natural? Yes. |

Re: YAY! whose planning for a vbac!?
1. Are you planning a VBAC?
Yep. This will be my second one! 2. Have you have a VBAC before? If so, was it successful? Yes. May 14, 2011! IT.WAS.AWESOME. Here is the thread with my birth story. 3. Do you ever have doubts about a VBAC? Not now. I did before my first one. I had a huge post on my ICAN forum about how scared I was of a CBAC. How I knew it would destroy me mentally and emotionally. But my VBAC healed me and now I am no longer afraid of what may or may not happen. 4. Are you scared, excited, anxious, nervous, skeptical or all of the above thinking about your VBAC? I am SOOOO excited! My last birth was so much fun, and I hope this one will be as well. I'm a little nervous about the potential for PROM again without the option to intervene, but super excited to try a COMPLETELY natural HBAC! 5. Will it be at home or hospital? My first VBAC was in a hospital, but this one is planned for home. 6. Are you planning to go natural? ABSOLUTELY. I planned to go natural with my very first birth, but I was the subject of some pretty unfavorable pressure and it didn't go well. With #2 I was unmedicated except for pit, which wasn't started until 51 hours post PROM.
