I'm about to lose my prefold virginity

Fluff mail day! I got my first prefolds from the co-op on Livejournal. I'm completely excited. However, I don't have any Snappis yet -- I had no idea I'd get them this fast!

Soooo, for prep...do you do the boiling route or five bajillion hot washes? Gimme all the details, this is a whole new realm for me. Oh, and they're unbleached IPFs.

Have you tried pins? It's not as hard as I thought it would be. I used pins until I got my snappis, then I couldn't get the hang of the snappis and mostly use the pins anyway lol.

Nope, I haven't. I know it's dorky but I'm afraid of stabbing the both of us -- K is in Writhe-n-Wriggle mode lately.

Hmm had a thought, do you have pockets right now? Maybe you could trifold a pf and put inside an unstuffed pocket!

Hopefully you can find the prefold love like I did. I don't use them 24/7, but I do totally love them. I bought one snappi--I'm still struggling to get them "tight" enough in the back, but I guess it's a learning process. Maybe it's because Cam's so much older? Hmmm.


Anywho. Wash the hell out of 'em. That's what I did. Rather than wash and dry after every wash, here is what I did. I washed on hot the first time, and then dried--not all the way dried, but pretty much. Then I washed them two or three more times before I dried them again. I think I did one final wash and one final really hot dry. You'll be able to tell when they are done. They fluff up and look so cuddly.

Yup I have mostly pockets, that's a good thought -- I'm kind of not loving my hemp inserts, which are the majority of my stash.

I'm using my fb's as the cover to my trifolded pf's....just lay them in the diaper dont put them in the pocket. It works great and you dont have to buy new covers.
