Re: Script is only $11, so why don't YOU pay for it?

Does insurance cover it normally? Sometimes you have to go through their "preferred meds" before they will pay for something. DH has this issue. He takes a medication that is not very expensive, but the insurance company require that the doctor submit a oreauth form that a couple of their preferred drugs in the same class failed before they will cover it. Out copay is not much thess than the cash price, but it counts toward our deductible, so we jump through the hoop to get it covered.

At Walgreens last year I had the same issue, I think it wax a 17$ script. But anyway they said to just save the receipt and once it was approved they would issue me a refund. They did. You are not being silly.

I love that! My husband has told people before. "this is costing me more work time than the is worth, but you overcharged me!" and they are usually shocked anyone cares, odd.

I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Over the phone customer service rep try to out wait me regularly. Now I just tell them, I'm a SAHM with a very obedient toddler--I can stay on the phone all day long.

You can actually pay for it so that you can get the medication, save the receipt and continue to fight for reimbursement.

Does this mean that you are feeling better??

I fought with my ins. over $5.50 recently. I won. That's $5.50 more I can spend on something I need for my family.

Stick to your guns. If it should be covered, you shouldn't have to pay for it.

You're not being silly. I'm all about the principle of things. If your pharmacy or doctor's office staff is giving you attitude, ask them if they'd like to pay for it.

Is the cost the only reason they are fighting it?

the cost is low, so can't be the reason. I think because it's not a med per say, it's something OTC they use as a med sometimes. I don't even think it's likely going to do a lot.

They cover tons of OTC stuff with a script. So I have no idea

Took a lot of fighting to get them to cover my kids' spacer for his inhaler even.
