surrogacy
Tell me what you know about it.
First hand experiences either side of the belly? I'm very curious and would be looking to do in the next year or two most likely.

Re: surrogacy
Hi there!
I don't know much about surrogacy personally but I heard a piece on NPR a few days ago. Here is the link: http://www.npr.org/2012/04/13/150563...eets-mom-to-be There actually have an entire series that you might find helpful to read: http://www.npr.org/series/136506904/...changing-lives Hope this helps! Best wishes! |

Re: surrogacy
I'd honestly consider it for my twin sister and her husband, but not sure what all that entails. I'll be reading this thread for sure!

Re: surrogacy
Do a search on the adoption section, parenting and off topic. There are some wonderful surrogate mom's that are here but most don't focus on it as there is no place that is really theirs (its nice when they join us in adoption but they don't always). When its been asked before usually within a few days, someone reaches out to offer to help.

This is a thread I started a while ago, but I didn't reach out or follow up because my husband put the kabash on the whole idea for us.

Re: surrogacy
my close friend did it. she was a gestational surrogate for a couple. donor eggs his sperm. she had a vaginal birth, with twins. one twin was almost 2 pounds bigger than the other. she also had a very severe hemorrhage . and had bleeding after the birth for a few months. I understand the wanting to help someone and the though of it is amazing and everything. but seeing my friend go throw all that. plus being on bed rest and not being able to take care of her own children, I just think the risks are very high.

Re: surrogacy
I'd love to be a surrogate some day. Whether it will actually happen who knows but I'm very open to it!!

Re: surrogacy
My SIL was a gestational surrogate a few months ago. She started out with twin girls but lost one early on. She gave birth to a beautiful healthy girl a few months ago. As far as I know she is dealing well. My husband on the other hand is not, it really put a huge wedge in their relationship. I think being a surrogate is a very honorable thing but I, personally, am too selfish to do it.

Re: surrogacy
I'm a 2x traditional surrogate. LOVED both experiences, they were life changing for me. My first set of IP's became forever family friends, second set we trade pictures now and then (their choice). I loved both experiences, and may consider doing another one in the future, who knows.
Right now we're building our own family.
