Down's Syndrome - Update in 1st post

Tell me your experiences please!!!!

We are looking at this being our potential finding (we will get CVS results on Wednesday). I'm just overwhelmed and scared.

At this point we're not sure what the problem is but Down's seems like it is actually the best case for us right now (other options are trisomy 13,18 and turner's syndrome).

We do have some othe complications that are life threatening to the baby - not only does the baby have a higher messurement of the nuchal transluency but also had some edema throughtout it's skin layer - not quite hydrops yet but may become.

Everything is so bad right now and I am just struggling!!!

May 3rd - we got our results back and our baby boy does have Down's - we are actually comfortable with that and we are moving forward with this as our new normal... It was actually a relief to get this diagnosis since the other options are far more difficult to deal with.

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with this stress.

Dd had a 1:30 chance of downs and I was freaking out. We choose not to do any of the other testing. We had our high scan us a few months later and all the markers were gone.

My daughter has Trisomy 21, and she is a fabulous little girl. She has a sense of humor, a stubborn streak (just like her mama) and is doing pretty well medically. Life is crazy and not what I expected, but it's amazing at the same time. She'll be 16 months tomorrow.

If she does have Down syndrome, it's nothing to be scared of but it's also okay to be sad about it...

Hugs Mama! I teach middle school, and we have some AWE-mazing Downs kiddos. They are the sweetest, kindest group of kids in our school. Obviously, they have some challenges, but when they accomplish things, the joy in their faces is infectious.

I wish you the best in your journey and hope you get some answers soon. Once you have your answer, I would start researching early intervention providers in your area, and your state's early intervention program so you are ready to get started and not trying to do all the research when baby comes home.
