I am sticking with the Tums, so far, for the heartburn...some days are worse than others and I can't pinpoint a specific food or anything that may be "causing" the problem.

I found a tutorial today to make a floor gym for Tadpole...I thought we had the old one from the other 2 kids, but apparently it never made it when we moved last year and I'm not paying what they want for them at the store...clip on rings were $3.50 and 2 pool noodles were $3.98...I have fabric coming out the ears and I'm sure I have some sort of toys we can clip on it...sure beats $25-$80 depending on which one I liked at the store.

This time around I'm trying to tough it out since I prob have like a week or two left at most, but Tums no longer work, chcoc. milk doesn't work, Pepcid is getting shorter and shorter on it's time of working. I started Pepcid after a day of so mch pain I couldn't do anything but roll in the floor/bed/couch. It helps more then Tums and I'm not allergic. I ended up on Previcid with my last pregnancy. It's no fun and a hard decicion to make as to what to take. Eatting crushed ice helps me, but it has to be a continuing thing, not something that last. It gets me through the between meds times though. You can buy large cups of ice at Sonic for like 44 cents and keep them in the freezer if you don't have crushed ice at home. We're very old school with thing called, ICE TRAYS. My teen friend can't work them.

You can also buy a bag of ice at most Sonics.

just be careful....tums has been linked to calcification spots on the placenta

it's not helping me either. I just read today that safflower capsules can help....of course I read that AFTER I got back from wegmans!

I take it. I have taken the 75 mg or the 100 mg once a day. Lately I haven't needed it as much as I did before, but I'm expecting it to get worse very soon. It's on the safe meds list the doctor gave me. It's either that or the baby is not going to get proper nutrition because it got so that anything I ate was making me sick, not to mention it was making it very hard to sleep. It works very well for me.

The other thing with taking lots of Tums is that the calcium in them binds with the iron in your diet or vitamins so you don't absorb it, and I take 4 iron pills a day, so I have to carefully work the calcium around it. Tums were making it even more complicated.

I'm hoping I won't need it everyday. Or maybe I can try just half of a tablet before dinner. It seems to not matter at all what I eat, my heartburn begins at the same time every night.

I was getting worried about tums causing calcification of my placenta. I was taking 4-6 every night.

I take it and I only take it while preg b/c that's the only time I get heartburn. I take a 75mg (I do the off brand) and only once a day. I don't take it every day either but only when my heartburn is bad enough to warrant it.

AFM: Just finished catching up on this thread! Whew! I def think we'll have some May babies in here. I'm kinda wondering who is gonna be next b/c you just never know!
Things have been good here. BH settled down for a bit but now is firing back up. Yay. These next wks should go by fast though since I'll be in the office twice weekly starting next wk since I start my NSTs. Just hoping to make it to at least 37 wks so I can deliver at the birth center.

I was wondering that too! better not be me lol! although if my stress level goes up anymore with this event for our Doula Association on thursday who knows!! I'd like this baby to stay in and bake until at least 37 weeks.

Peri appt went well. cervix is short but not too bad(2.3cm iirc. it was 4.2 last time). they keep saying how big she is though, and commenting on her massive amounts of hair??? weird...see the midwife again friday.
