Re: Alimentum...why quit a good thing?

Adding in to not switching. I BF my daughter at the beginning but for a slew of reasons it didn't work and we ended up going to formula. We tried regular Enfamil and Similac, soy, the gentle stuff, etc. The only thing that worked for her stomach problems was the Alimentum (which I compared to the smell of old french fries) and we had to stick with it until she was old enough for cow's milk. Basically, if you've found a solution it's best to just deal with it. I was lucky enough to get WIC to help with the $28/can expense.

I wouldn't. My DS2 was on Alimentum and that was when they didn't have it in powder about $$ but it was worked and was worth every penny to have him healthy, happy and thriving. When I would try to wean him off and try something else it was just a nightmare - the poor baby! I kept him on it until he was about 9+ months old.

DHA and ARA are in all formulas except Baby's Only. Don't use Baby's Only, the brown rice syrup is contaminated with arsenic. arsenic is definitely WAY worse. and avoid soy. soy is very unhealthy.

ETA: i don't think i would switch him.
