Yard sale pricing idea, opinions?
We are moving from an apt to a house and I am planning a yard sale the weekend we move in.
I have a lot of kids clothing, all nice stuff. Name brands, good condition. What I am thinking of doing is having 2 Sharpies and putting a dot on the tag to indicate price. Black = $2 Red = $1 Unmarked = $.50 I will sort them into neat piles by price at the beginning of the sale and have a large sign showing what the dots mean. Does this sound like a good idea? I can't think of anything better, but I'm open to suggestions! I am not proud of my stuff and I really want it gone so of course I'm open to offers. But I didn't want to say $.50 for all kids clothing because I think $2 is reasonable for Gap and Gymbo stuff that was bought new and worn by one child. Big boys jeans in those brands I will price at $2. Thoughts?

Re: Yard sale pricing idea, opinions?
What about using bins and putting a sign on the bin showing what the price is for everything in that bin. Some people might not want a dot on the tag of gymbo or gap clothes.....they may want to sell it themselves when they are done with it.

Because I won't remember what bin it came from and people will tell me everything came from the cheapest bin.
I don't really care if they want to resell it. As cheap as I am pricing things they will still be able to get their money back or more depending on where they resell.

Re: Yard sale pricing idea, opinions?
I think that sounds fine. I wonder what the chances are that people will be tring to switch tags. Of course, people could do that with priced tags as well, so maybe that's a non-issue.
BTW, got any boy jeans in size 5 or 6? I'd send PP.

Re: Yard sale pricing idea, opinions?
I just figured most people would be honest about what bin they got it out of.

Re: Yard sale pricing idea, opinions?
Oh, I was thinking those sticker price tags, not the actual clothing tag. Duh!

Re: Yard sale pricing idea, opinions?
What about having items priced by brand and make a sign for that. Gap, TCP and Gymbo shirts $1, etc.

Re: Yard sale pricing idea, opinions?
I would just post a sign so there aren't any questions to what the dot means and then you don't have to worry about putting dots on the clothes (less work).
I would love to come to your garage sale if you lived in my area.

I personally would not purchase anything with a sharpie dot on the tag since it can bleed over time. Could you use colored stickers?

Re: Yard sale pricing idea, opinions?
I've used colored circle stickers and just wrote the price on those. Then you can stick them on the fabric or tags or box or whatever - they stick to almost anything.
