Stripping BG AIO's
What is the best way to do this?? I have NEVER had a leak with dd who is in M's and now she leaks ALL the time. I want to make sure the dipes don't have build up before I buy doublers. I am wondering if she's suddenly wetting more. BUT I think it's build up because when I was getting stains out the other day, as I was rinsing them in the sink and squeezing out, I saw bubbles.
I was considering boiling, or the dishwasher thing. But, if you do the dishwasher thing, do you use dawn and on what cycle?? If I boil, do I do 15 min and 5 min with dawn at the end?? Thanks for any help! Oh-I've switched to planet from charlies. I had no buildup with charlies, but had stink. Ugh!

Re: Stripping BG AIO's
I just did a High Temp dishwasher cycle with no soap. I put the diapers in the top rack. It worked well for me.

Re: Stripping BG AIO's
I tried EVERYTHING, but the thing that finally worked to strip my BG was plain old Tide in a hot wash. There were so many suds it was crazy. I had been using Free & Clear (as advised), but it just built up like crazy. I tried everything before that.. boiling water, adding lots of extra water to the wash (which did help, just not enough), calgon, bleach! Oxyclean! Tide is what did it for me. Not HE Tide, just normal Tide.

Re: Stripping BG AIO's
I was thinking hot water was a no-no with BG AIOs. Am I wrong?

Re: Stripping BG AIO's
I always had problems w/ my BG AIOs until I stopped washing them w/ detergent. Now I just use Dawn (after I got all the buildup off). To get the buildup off, I washed on hot w/ a squirt of dawn, then double rinsed.

Re: Stripping BG AIO's
I had to strip mine ast weekend.
Here is what I did: Long cold wash with Dawn-I have Ultra, so one "squeeze". Then I took them out before the rinse cycle started and ran them through the longest wash cycle on my dishwasher. It took 4 times through before I didn't see anymore bubbles on the bottom of the dishwasher. Then I put them back in the washing machine and did a short hot wash cycle with nothing followed by a cold rinse. That did the trick. Mine were repelling, as in, I could see pee just sitting on the dipes. If you rinse in the dishwasher, make sure you turn your water heater up to the hottest setting about 30 minutes before you start and TURN OFF THE HEAT/DRY CYCLE! Or your dipes could catch fire. Also, both of my boys are flooders, and I discovered that suedecloth isn't the best for those kind of wetters. So I went and bought some fleece at the fabric store and made some fleece liners. I just cut them myself to size-no sewing required. Now our BG AIO's are working great and no more leaks! I hope you can figure it out! |

Re: Stripping BG AIO's
Only the 1.0's. The 2.0's can be washed in Hot.
