May "Use your Stash Game" Chat thread

I'm working on a busy book for a cousin's birthday, what kind of activities are you putting in yours? And how many pages is it? (If you don't mind me asking!) I'm a bit stuck!

I was able to do an hour of crocheting yesterday in the car while we drove to see my grandparents. In the evening I was able to get all the fabric cut and ironed for my 2 back seat organizers. One is ready to sew up and I hope I can get the other one finished and ready to sew tonight.

alyssa&rylan's-mommy.....I made a "learning to get dressed" busy book for my son when he was 3. I put in zippers, snaps (metal sew in ones), buttons, velcro, a shoe lace. I put shapes in different colors on top of the straps with snaps/velcro. ( like red circle, blue square, etc). I hope that makes sense. Each page he had to match a color or shape as the blue strap with the darker blue square was suppose to be fastened to the snap sewed onto a blue square. (They all worked so he could fasten them all to the wrong colors, too) The blue strap matched a blue button. I think I did 4 or 5 of the same thing on each set of pages (except the shoe lace). So one velcro page, then turn the page and it is snaps. I also put in pockets and flat felt objects that had to be "matched" and put in the right pocket. I sewed them to the inside seam of book with embroidery floss so they didn't get lost and they dangled out a little when not in the pockets.

I know he still has the book but it is packed away in the garage somewhere with his "baby stuff".

I'm in the middle of sewing a bunch of nursing pads for myself - I finished 6 sets yesterday in time for the extra mom points....it's ok if I wait to tally yardage until I'm totally finished with them, right? I just know I cut up 3 total yards of material to make all of my circles, but no clue how many I actually used yesterday!

ETA: I'm going to be cutting up a yard of flannel for family cloth, but I don't sew mine - I just cut with zig zag scissors and fold as it comes out of the wash. I can still count the yardage but not the sewing points for FO, right?

That sounds great! I've considered a lot of that stuff, and bought some overall clips and buckles the other day for it, I just wasn't sure it would be enough.

For the busy book for DD I am doing 12 pages...

Match the shapes/colors
What's in mommy's purse? (felt cell phone, keys, lipstick, etc)
counting
left mitten
right mitten
dress up dolly
and her dresser full of clothes
tie the ballerina slipper
button the flowers
unicorn (snap the horn in place) <--- still a work in progress, it is DH's idea
traffic light
put teddy to bed


I also made one for my boys years ago, with a few different pages. There were a few threads floating around a couple months back. I've been meaning to take some pics and post. Like everything else, I say I'm gonna do it, and it takes forever to do.



But I was able to get some more accomplished of A's busy book. If I keep this up, she'll have it for her birthday LOL

It's a basket/bucket made from an old Jean leg.

Very cute! I have some old jeans set aside for similar projects, but haven't got to them yet.

Tonight I worked on a pair of pj pants for DS and another set of baby bloomers, but didn't finish either of them. Hopefully tomorrow at nap time!
