I know tons of little girls named Lily. It's a beautiful name, but I know exactly what you mean about not wanting her to have to go through her life with a ton of other people with the same name. That's why we didn't name our oldest Isabella!

Re: How common

It seems to be fairly common. But if you like it go for it. Don't let the popularity of a name stop you, she could very well be the only Lily in her class.

I know a Lily who's an adult, two who are toddlers, and a Lilyana. They are each in a different state, so it isn't a local theme. But I say use it if you really love it!

Re: How common

When we named DD2 the name was not common at all in our area. We where going to name her Lillian, but added the extra n(Lillliann) because her Granny and her Nanny have the middle name Ann. We drop the Ann and call her Lilli. After she was born 3 people we know named there girls Lily and we have meet others with girls named Lily. I still love the name.

My DD is Liliana, Lily for short. I didn't think it was that common, but I know several kids who are babies now (DD is 3) named Lily. I still love it

Re: How common

It's pretty common here too-- when I named my daughter Layla 7 years ago I hadn't met a single other child with a similar "L" name, and I was a teacher so I saw a lot of kids. Now she's in 1st grade, and surrounded by Lillys, Lilah's, Lolas, and Laras... but strangely enough no other Laylas. It's kind of annoying, only because I was *trying* to give her a fairly unique name... but then the name and all the names like it jumped up in popularity really quickly. :/
