keeping my little one dry
Could someone recommend what i could use between my baby and his prefold to keep the wetness off of his skin. I feel like the poor little guy is always wet. Any suggestions would be greatly welcomed. thanks renee

Does it bother him? You could try a fleece liner or cotton babies has this stay dry pocket sleeve thing where you stuff an insert or prefold in it

Re: keeping my little one dry
He is a week old and has some open skin already on the underside of his little parts. I was thinking that keeping the moisture off of him would help heal and prevent it from happening. I am so new to cloth diapering any suggestions are appreciated. I have been applying diaper cream without relief. Someone suggested breast milk and lanolin.

What kind of diaper cream have you been using? Does he poop a lot? My son's poop is really acidic or something because as soon as he poops his bottom is bright red and sometimes little spots of blood.
and he is never ever left in a dirty diaper. But you could definitely try a stay dry fleece liner or the sick thing from cotton babies.

Re: keeping my little one dry
He was pooping so much. I imagine it must be acidic like your sons. It has slowed slightly. i have been using little carrots diaper cream.

It may very well just be the poop but even still a fleece liner won't hurt

Re: keeping my little one dry
I use fleece liners in my prefolds and flats. I like the Bummis microfleece ones, but you can buy some fleece and cut them into pieces to use in your diapers if you want.
The only reason I haven't done that yet is because I'm waiting to get some fleece, bamboo or hemp, and then make my own stay-dry doublers for when my little guy pees more. |
