has anyone used goat's milk for formula

i am thinking about putting my daughter on half baby's only lactose free, half goat's milk. Anybody have any thoughts with this? I am nervous to just do goats milk, I have heard it is hard on their kidneys.

There are some recipes out there for a formula made with goats milk. I have not personally used them but I wouls sure consider it if I needed it.

Re: has anyone used goat's milk for formula

I think if your baby is tolerating cow's milk proteins fine, then goat's milk should be ok. Doing half and half with a formula will help ensure your baby gets the proper nutrients. My ds did not tolerate cow's milk protein at all and had an even worse, and very scary, reaction to goat's milk.

I ebf DS until he was 8 months. At that time we started giving him bottles of goats milk if I wasn't around or awake so I wouldn't have to pump. We did it maybe two or three times a month so I could sleep in on a weekend day or go out with friends. He tolerated it really well and seemed to like it.
