Glad it didn't bounce. I still wouldn't take checks in the future. Also, me personally, I would email that woman and tell her that I didn't at all like the way she handled this transaction. I wouldn't be mean or anything but she didn't do what you agreed upon and technically sold something that wasn't yet hers to sell.

I also wonder if you gave her a good price and she discovered she could sell it for more and make some money by doing that. Her right if she'd already paid for it, but really inappropriate in this circumstance.

I would still be careful....if you deposited the check yesterday, there isn't really anyway of knowing if it didn't bounce yet. Most banks will make the funds available the next day, especially if it is under $100, but it could take a week or more to know if it actually cleared.

i've had it "clear" into my account, withdraw the funds, then a week later get the notice that it did not in fact clear and i got hit with the charge AND non-sufficent funds charges. Thankfully, the bank reversed all the charges in my case, but they dont always. It just happened that it was bc i had a military bank of america account and not a regular account

Unless your bank called to confirm funds available, it isn't really "in the clear" yet. Just because they cashed it doesn't mean the account it is drawn from had sufficient funds. Unfortunately, NSF checks can take a couple weeks to show up in your account. I really hope yours is in the clear though.

That's what I meant when I said it probably hasn't "cleared" yet. At my bank, where I work, if A comes in and deposits a check on Monday, then Monday night the actual check goes to our back office for processing. The Tuesday AM they get mailed/electronically sent to the bank they are drawn off of. Tuesday night/Wednesday AM, that bank start processing. It's never a same day deal. And if bank A calls bank B to verify funds are there at 2PM, and at 3PM the check writer comes in and empties their account there's nothing you can do. They can't "hold" funds based on a phone call verification.
But hopefully everything is on the up and up

I agree you are not clear do not touch the money for a few weeks
