I'd be about as flattered as if my MIL had brought me a girdle and said the same thing. And I'd do the same thing- put it in the donate bag and try never to think of it again.

Depending on your relationship, I would be so totally offended. It implies that nursing should be done but never seen. Seems she's uncomfortable looking at it, so of course you should cover up! (her view) Psh. I generally tell people that if they're uncomfortable then it's their problem. All I'm doing is feeding my baby. It's even worse now that he's a toddler but whatever.

I agree. My own family and DH's family knows how passionate I am about NIP or at least how I was when I was still doing so several yrs ago. I refused to cover at all and I'd nurse anywhere. I had no qualms about telling someone to bite me politely of course when confronted about NIP or when asked to cover up especially since i was never showing anymore than I'd show in a V-neck or low cut shirt now.
