Re: Asperger's

We finally had our day of testing. It was very extensive and thorough. We feel confident with the diagnoses. Mild ASD and anxiety. She said it could be classified as asperger's or PDD-NOS, but since those are going away with the new DSM, they're not valid diagnoses anymore. So it's just ASD. He also has a 'superior' IQ (95th %tile). She recommended therapy for the anxiety and social awkwardness.

Hugs! Its not easy. We are new to our diagnosis as well. Some days are great and others are awful. But she is such an amazing kid I wouldnt change it for the world.

My son sounds a lot like yours. Ridiculously smart, but awkward and anxious. We have a classic ASD diagnosis. I went through many stages of adjusting to our dx, but I'm now a very proud autism mom. There are tons of mamas here to support you!
