Hi all,

My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer while pregnant. she has started her chemotherapy and will undergo a double mastectomy in a few weeks. They are starting her labor tomorrow at 37 Weeks.

This is her second child and she was really looking forward to best feeding again. Obviously, she won't be able to.

I am looking for organizations in the area that can help to find breast milk donations for her.

I am located across the country in Seattle, but she told me that she would appreciate any of my help trying to get milk donations. Please PM me with links and contact info.

She can get a prescription I think from doc cuz breast milk is costly & usually for nicu babies but with her situation maybe she can get help have her maybe contact helpinghands milk bank. They support breast cancer susan g komen foundation & maybe would help. I wil shoot an email to them asking & post with more info. I'm really not far from her & lots here having babies & nursing. Did she go to lamaze? Maybe someone from class could help her.

Contacting Le Leche League near her area, would almost certainly rally around her and the baby! I'll be praying for your sister and her family.

For the record, LLL does not approve of mother to mother milk donations. That said, I am sure there would be mothers there that may be willing to share milk. Just an FYI
