Re: The start of my newborn twin stash! help!

A good rule of thumb for how many diapers to have for 1 baby to wash every other day would be 2.5 times the number of diaper changes per day. At a newborn stage, they might go through about 12 changes each per day. So...12 * 2.5 = 30ish diapers/day to do laundry every other day for 1 child. If you planned to wash every other day with Twins, you would likely need 60ish diapers.

So for twins, I would guess 30 per day, and for washing every other day at least 60.

That doesn't mean you will always use 60 diapers, but won't have to worry about running out while the diapers are in the wash, or if you are a couple of hours behind on your wash routine.
and I love GMD newborn prefolds but if your twins are teeny tiny, they might be a little big. Preemie prefolds are paper thin, though, and don't hold anything imo.

I really like preemie prefolds trifolded in a Thirsties Duo Cover size 1. My baby is 5 weeks old and just over 10lbs. I think she is a heavy wetter... Even with a hemp insert in an AIO, we have to change in the middle of the night.

You definitely won't regret having a good size stash... I ended up washing every day for the first few weeks even with a lot of diapers because not everything I bought fit well.

My son was 5lbs and I did not like the prefolds because they were too bulky and got soaked too fast. If I had to do it again, I would either go with all prefitted like tinkle traps or AIO with aplix only for better fit.

I know nb mutts aio will fit 5lbs babies but that will be expensive for twins.

Absolutely! Gmd orange edge prefolds swallowed my DD1 who was 6lb2oz. I prefer the GMD nb prefitted to the Tinkle traps... Better poopsplosion containment IME. DD2 is around 8.5lbs now and peeing more. I have been loving the GMD WH prefitted with the GMD small wh doubler OUTSIDE the fitted under the cover.

Ps. I have 41 diapers in my NB stash and have very comfortably washed every 2 days and went 3 days oncw without running out.

I agree that a couple dozen fitteds might be nice for nighttime changes. Then 4 dozen orange prefolds to round it out.
