Question AIOs with Bamboo French Terry & Bamboo Velour - absorbency issues?

I have some wonderful AIOs made by a great WAHM friend of mine. However, I am having some major absorbency issues with her diapers and all of my other dipes seem fine....

Her diapers are made with a 4-layer sewn-in soaker of bamboo french terry, and the diapers are lined with bamboo velour. The outsides are a cotton print PUL and the PUL seems just fine with no holes or anything.

Can anyone give me any reasons why I am having an issue with them being not-so-absorbent and wicking in an hour or less? Any suggestions on things I can do to improve them and get them working well? They are basically brand new, only worn and washed 3 or 4 times now with very little detergent and dried in the dryer. Then I even air dry them overnight in my house just to be sure they are fully dry.

Maybe just not enough absorbancy for your lo. Try laying in a doubler and see if that helps. And did you wash and dry on HOT, to seal the pul the first time. It needs to be hot hot esspecially with print pul as that usually is cotton laminated.

Bamboo absorbs a lot, but it's squishy. I assume that when the fabric is under pressure the liquid just moves. Out, to be exactly.

the more times you wash it the more absorbent they should become... especially with bamboo terry.

hth

unless of course you've washed them several times already and are still having a problem...???

is the diaper soaked.. meaning it's an absorbancy issue, needs a doubler or something? Or is the diaper just a bit wet but wetness is finding it's way to the outer print.. a wicking issue -- which would be something to talk to the WAHM about.

another factor is fit, it may just not be a good fit your child -- do the legs gape, etc.
