need books recs for difficult child, lol
my 13 yr old ds loves to read, but seems to like books that are much younger than his age. he likes funny books mostly and after questioning him, the last books he read that he liked alot are Captain Underpants and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, which he read years ago. I guess he hasn't found what he likes since then. I've had him read The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Hobbit, and some other books my other ds loved (Harry Potter) , but he hated them : (
So what I know he does like is funny, maybe something paranormal or sci fi? he was reading some books about aliens and big foot and strange phenomenon. I would love to find some chapter books that could possibly appeal to him. He did say he liked Wrinkle in Time. Other than that he says he prefers books with pics, lol. The worst part is, he does love to read and is a great reader. Help!

What happens if you look up 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid' on Amazon and then scroll to the 'people who bought this also bought.....' section?
Might give you some good ideas even the comments area in the book might help if people mention other books their children seemed to like to help parents determine if it's a good fit for their child. That's all I've got

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20 My daughter loved these books. Every year, we got one for her. Weird, but apparently interesting.

James Howe Bunnicula series might do it. Look for Tales From The House of Bunnicula. They feature animals and are written for a younger age group (probably 3rd grade) but they have that goofy humor thing going.

I was into sci- fi and post apocalyptic at that age and some of my favorites were:
The girl who owned a city - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/re.../dp/0440928931 The giver and 2 books that follow it - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS.../chrisficti-20
