Re: Is she just not ready for solids?
Don't feel lousy, mama, you're doing a good thing.
I did BLW with DS, who is now 2. I think he was around 8 months when I started giving him bits of avacado and bananas, and he would mostly play with it. He didn't eat much until he was at least 10 months. I agree with Boheme that putting things in their mouth is not an indicator that they are ready for solid foods. Babies "mouth" things because their fine motor skills and sense of touch and sight are not developed enough for them to be able to learn about things like texture and shape (of toys, etc...) without putting it in their mouth. It is for the purpose of exploration, so it really isn't a good indicator of their readiness for solid foods.

. My ped wanted me to start offering solids around 6 months (which I waited longer, almost 6.5) and I'm afraid she's going to freak out that she isn't eating a lot of food (I don't know why I care what she thinks though, I just hate confrontation). I keep offering her foods. She loved the Avocado from breakfast and ate more of that than anything so far. Personally, I love nursing her and am not ready to really start serious solids. Plus, she wont take a bottle and my dh wants a date and feels like if shes eating foods that we might can leave her with my mom for a few hours ![]() I just needed assurance I am doing the right thing!! |
